Pinjata is run by the Gabelić family in the old centre of Vrboska, behind the fortress church of St Mary, part cellar, part konoba.
The wines are the island’s own: bogdanuša, parč (prč) with its muscat-like perfume, plavac mali and a rosé.
Tastings come with cold Dalmatian food, pršut, cheeses, salted fish and seasonal salads, and if you order a day ahead the family will prepare peka, meat or octopus slow-cooked under an iron bell.
