Lanterna sits on the south side of Stari Grad bay, about 800 m from the town centre, named after the small navigation light nearby. Pines shade the shore, which combines a small pebble section for children with stone plateaus and steps into the sea.

It is an easy walk or bike ride along the water from the town; Banj beach lies about 500 m away on the other side of the bay.

Facilities include showers, changing rooms, toilets and deck chairs, with a restaurant nearby for refreshments. It is a calm, shaded, family friendly spot.
