Malo Zarace
The wilder second Zarace cove, reached by a short path over the headland.
Malo Zarace is the west facing of the two deep pebble coves below the hamlet of Zarace, 6 km from Hvar town on the south coast, enclosed by dramatic rocky cliffs.
Come by boat, or by car down the narrow road below the old stone village; parking above the coves is very limited, so arrive early. A narrow path leads down to this quieter cove, which most day trippers miss.
There is minimal infrastructure on this side, so bring your own umbrella and mat. The rocky seabed makes it one of the better snorkelling and diving spots on the island.
Beach vitals
Faces the open south, so it is calm in the bura from the north and choppy when the jugo blows from the south east.
Sun stays late here, the best light is in the afternoon and early evening.
