Perna
Pebble beach on the north side of Sucuraj, popular with local families.
Perna is a sand and pebble cove surrounded by thick pine forest near Sucuraj, at the far eastern end of Hvar, with a second small beach, Perna East, about 200 m away. The neighbouring bays are Mlaska and Mrtinovik.
It is a short drive from Sucuraj and also reachable by boat; the village has shops and restaurants, while the beach itself is undeveloped.
Expect untouched nature and azure water rather than facilities: beyond the pine shade, bring your own water and snacks. It suits couples and families who want a calm swimming bay.
Beach vitals
Faces the open south, so it is calm in the bura from the north and choppy when the jugo blows from the south east.
Sun most of the day, shade only where the pines or the cliff reach the water.
