Prapatna, practical questions
How do you get to Prapatna: on foot, by car or by boat?
A handful of old stone houses stand right behind the beach, slopes covered in maquis rise on both sides, and the calm, clear water makes it a lovely stop if you are exploring the quieter east of the island by car or boat. Park along the old Hvar to Stari Grad road above the bay and walk down the steep, rocky footpath, about 10 to 15 minutes on uneven ground. The roadside parking strip is small and fills quickly, so many visitors come by taxi boat or rental boat from Hvar harbour instead.
What is the seabed like and how is the entry into the sea?
Prapatna is a pebble beach in a deep, sheltered bay on the eastern part of Hvar, not far from Sucuraj. A handful of old stone houses stand right behind the beach, slopes covered in maquis rise on both sides, and the calm, clear water makes it a lovely stop if you are exploring the quieter east of the island by car or boat. The clear, sheltered water is excellent for swimming and snorkelling; arrive early in July and August to be sure of a spot.
Is there a restaurant or bar at Prapatna?
No, Google Maps shows no restaurant or bar within a few hundred metres of the beach, so bring your own water and snacks for the day.
What should we bring to Prapatna?
Pack water shoes for the pebbles, water and snacks, there are no bars at the beach, an umbrella or a hat, natural shade is not guaranteed, sun cream and a towel.
Can we arrive by taxi boat?
Yes. Taxi boats from the Hvar riva run all season and a private ride drops you as close as the seabed allows. See routes and prices on our
water taxi page.
