Prapatna
A peaceful pebble bay with a tiny stone hamlet at the water, on the road towards Sucuraj.
Prapatna is a pebble beach in a deep, sheltered bay on the eastern part of Hvar, not far from Sucuraj. A handful of old stone houses stand right behind the beach, slopes covered in maquis rise on both sides, and the calm, clear water makes it a lovely stop if you are exploring the quieter east of the island by car or boat.
Park along the old Hvar to Stari Grad road above the bay and walk down the steep, rocky footpath, about 10 to 15 minutes on uneven ground. The roadside parking strip is small and fills quickly, so many visitors come by taxi boat or rental boat from Hvar harbour instead.
Facilities are modest, so bring what you need for the day. The clear, sheltered water is excellent for swimming and snorkelling; arrive early in July and August to be sure of a spot.
Beach vitals
Faces north, so it stays glassy in the jugo and picks up chop when the bura blows from the north east.
Softer light for most of the day.
