Do I need a boat licence to rent a boat on Hvar?
Yes, every motor boat in Croatia requires a licensed driver. Either you hold a valid boat licence and drive yourself, or a professional skipper comes with the boat and you simply relax.
How much does it cost to rent a boat on Hvar?
Small self-drive boats start around €90 to €200 per day, speedboats with a licence run €160 to €800, boats with a skipper are mostly €400 to €1,700, and luxury day yachts range from €1,800 to €2,800 per day.
Is fuel included in the price?
It depends on the boat. Smaller self-drive boats usually charge fuel on top based on what you use, while some skippered and luxury boats include fuel in the daily rate. We confirm this clearly before you book.
Can I visit the Blue Cave with a rented boat?
Yes, with a full-day rental and a skipper. The Blue Cave on Bisevo is about 1.5 hours from Hvar, so it is a full-day trip usually combined with Stiniva, the Green Cave and Vis island.
How far are the Pakleni islands by boat?
Only 10 to 20 minutes from Hvar town. Palmizana, Mlini and the hidden coves of the archipelago are the most popular half-day playground for rented boats.
When should I book a boat in high season?
For July and August we recommend booking 2 to 4 weeks ahead for standard boats and 1 to 2 months ahead for luxury yachts and big-group boats. In June and September a few days ahead is usually enough.
What happens if the weather is bad?
Skippers monitor the forecast and will propose a sheltered route around the Pakleni islands, a free reschedule, or a refund if going out is not safe. Safety always comes first on the Adriatic.
What is usually included in the rental?
Typically the boat, safety equipment and a briefing; with skippered boats also the skipper and often fuel, a cooler and snorkelling gear. We send you the exact inclusions for the boat you choose before you confirm.
Can I rent a boat for half a day?
Yes, many boats offer 4-hour rentals, which is enough for Palmizana and a couple of Pakleni coves. Full-day is required for the Blue Cave, Vis or Bol.
Are rented boats suitable for families with kids?
Yes. Life jackets in all sizes are provided, skippers adjust speed and routes for children, and calm bays like Mlini or Vinogradisce make easy first boat days.
