What every Hvar boat tour includes

Private means private. The boat, the skipper and the whole day belong to your group, so the itinerary bends to you: departure time, how long you float in a lagoon, where you eat.

The price covers the skipper, fuel, drinks on board and snorkelling masks, plus a discount voucher for selected restaurants and bars in Hvar town. Lunch, cave tickets and konoba stops are paid on the day.

Our boats carry up to 12 passengers between them. For bigger crews we send two boats that cruise together, which groups usually end up loving even more.

When to book a boat tour on Hvar

For July and August, book a few days ahead at least: the boats and the best skippers go first. In the shoulder season you can often book for tomorrow.

If the weather turns, we reschedule to a day that suits you or refund you in full. The skipper reads the sea every morning and will usually suggest swapping the route to the sheltered side of the island rather than cancelling the day.

Which boat tour from Hvar should you pick?

If you only have one day and you want the photographs everybody comes back with, take the Blue Cave and Vis. It is the longest crossing and the only one with a queue in it, but Modra špilja, Stiniva and the Green Cave in a single day is hard to beat.

If you want the most swimming for the least sea time, take the Red Rocks and Pakleni islands. Nothing on that route is more than about forty minutes from Hvar town, which also makes it the easiest day with children.

Zlatni Rat is a beach day with two open-water crossings; Korčula is a town day with three hours of running in it. The sunset cruise is two slow hours and the easiest thing on the list; the party boat is the same coast run for a different reason; big game fishing starts before six in the morning and is the only tour with a price per boat published on the page.

What a private boat tour from Hvar costs

Private boats are priced per boat, not per person. That single difference is what decides whether a private day is an extravagance or the cheaper option.

A seat on a scheduled group tour out of Hvar generally runs somewhere between €80 and €120 per person for a full day, depending on the boat and the season. Divide a private boat by the number of people on it and the lines cross surprisingly early: at four or five people you are paying a premium for privacy, at eight you are close to level, and at ten or twelve a private boat is usually the cheaper way to spend the day, with the route, the timings and the music under your control instead of a timetable’s.

What moves the price is the boat, the hours and the distance: a two hour sunset run and a ten hour crossing to Korčula are not the same fuel bill. Tell us the day and the crew and we send the exact figure back with the availability.

Two things are never in the price, ours or anybody else’s: lunch, and cave tickets on the Blue Cave day, which are collected on Biševo in cash, €24 per adult in high season, €18 outside it.

Good to know before you book

Every tour leaves from the riva in Hvar town and the hour is yours. That is the point of a private boat. On the Blue Cave day it is worth using it: the scheduled boats from Hvar and Split all cast off around 10:15, so leaving at nine is the difference between ten minutes of queue and ninety.

The season runs April to October. In July and August book a few days ahead at least, because the boats and the best skippers go first; in May, June, September and October you can often book for tomorrow.

Bring swimwear and a towel, sun cream and a hat, water shoes for the pebble beaches, cash for lunch and cave tickets, and something with sleeves for the run home. Drinks, an ice box and snorkelling masks are on board.

If the weather turns we reschedule to a day that suits you or refund you in full. The skipper reads the sea every morning and will usually suggest swapping to the sheltered side of the island rather than cancelling a whole day.

These are fast boats on open water. They are not suitable for wheelchair users, and we would not recommend the long crossings if you are pregnant, have back or neck trouble, or are travelling with children under two. The sunset cruise and the Pakleni islands day are the gentle ones.

Boat tours from Hvar, common questions

Are the tours private or shared?

Private: the boat, the skipper and the whole day belong to your group. That is why every itinerary on this page bends to you, from departure time to how long you float in a lagoon.

How many people fit on one boat?

Our boats carry up to 12 passengers between them. For bigger crews we send two boats that cruise together, which groups usually end up loving even more.

What is included in the price?

Skipper, fuel, drinks on board and snorkelling masks, plus a discount voucher for selected restaurants and bars in Hvar town. Lunches, cave tickets and konoba stops are on you.

What happens in bad weather?

We reschedule to a day that suits you or refund you in full. The skipper also reads the sea daily and will suggest swapping the route to the sheltered side rather than cancelling.

When should we book a tour in summer?

For July and August, a few days ahead at least: boats and the best skippers go first. In shoulder season you can often book for tomorrow.

Can you customise a tour?

Completely. Combine stops from different tours, add a fishing hour, start at sunrise or finish with dinner on Palmizana: tell us the day you imagine and we build it.

Which boat tour from Hvar is the best one?

For first-timers, the Blue Cave and Vis day, because it packs Modra špilja, Stiniva and the Green Cave into one run. For the most swimming and the least sea time, the Red Rocks and Pakleni islands. For an easy evening with no commitment, the two hour sunset cruise.

Is a private boat tour cheaper than a group tour?

It depends on how many of you there are. A group seat from Hvar is roughly €80 to €120 per person for a full day. A private boat is priced per boat, so at four or five people you pay a premium for privacy, at eight you are about level, and at ten or twelve a private boat is usually cheaper, and you keep control of the route and the timings.

How far in advance should I book a boat tour in Hvar?

In July and August a few days at least. In May, June, September and October you can often book for the next day. The sunset cruise and the fishing trips fill fastest because there are fewer slots in a day.

Is the Blue Cave ticket included in the tour price?

No, and it is not included in anyone’s price from Hvar. It is collected by the cave concession on Biševo, in cash, at €24 per adult in high season and €18 outside it.

What time do the tours leave?

The hour is yours, because the boat is private. Full-day tours normally cast off between 09:00 and 10:00; the sunset cruise leaves about ninety minutes before sundown; the fishing trips start at 05:30 or 06:00.

Do you run tours in April and October?

Yes, weather permitting. The sea is cooler and there are fewer boats about, which for the Blue Cave in particular is an advantage. The queue at that time of year is measured in minutes.

What happens if the weather is bad?

We reschedule to a day that suits you or refund you in full. More often the skipper simply swaps the route to the sheltered side of the island, which saves the day rather than cancelling it.

Cannot decide?
